Great Wolford Parish Council Newsletter July 2017

THE NEXT PARISH COUNCIL MEETING WILL BE ON TUESDAY 11 JULY AT 8.00PM IN THE CHURCH

The last Parish Council meeting included the AGM and this Newsletter is an amalgam of what was discussed at all the meetings held that evening. All the parish councillors were present and Mrs Janet Piller took the minutes. Also present was our new County Councillor Mrs Jo Barker.

Little Wolford has now elected a new Chairman for the Parish Meeting so the possibility of joining with Great Wolford Parish Council has been dropped.

Financial Report, the clerk presented copies of the 2016/17 Financial report which showed a current balance of £3144. The Accounts were accepted.

The Fox and Hounds: attention was drawn to the large number of kegs accumulating outside the pub, these would now seem to have been removed. The owners stated that the pub was now closed for the foreseeable future and that they intended to apply for change of use by the end of the year. Geoff Shuttleworth asked the owners whether they were available to discuss a genuine offer for the pub and it was agreed that a further meeting would be held between Geoff and the owners with Jo Barker in attendance. This meeting has now taken place with an agreement that further discussions will be held.

Village Design Statement the current Village Design Statement is now rather out of date and needs up dating, the Chair asked for volunteers to project lead this but no one was forthcoming, this proposal will be kept over to a future date, if anyone would like to take this on please let either the Clerk or the Chair know.

Village Defibrillator has now been installed and is available. A short course was arranged in the Village Hall with 10 people attending, this was very worthwhile and the Parish Council will consider running a further first aid course. If you need to use the defibrillator which is sited in the old phone box on the green ring 999 and you will be given a code to access the box. It is simple to use and instructions are included on the equipment.

Planning, approval has been given for the erection of an additional garage at Carters Leaze. Since the last meeting Wolford House has submitted a further planning application for access onto the Four Shires Stone road. The Parish Council has strongly objected to this on road safety grounds but this may not be sufficient as the access from the house is onto a private road, not a farm track, and the private road already has access onto the general highway.

Highways, attention was drawn to the dangerous state of the pavements due to the build up of leaves etc. This will be brought to the attention of the Highway Department but little is likely to happen. Keith Murphy volunteered to sweep the pavements which he has now done and the Parish Council would like to build on this community effort by having a rota of volunteers to sweep the pavements once or twice a year, particularly in the winter.
