The campaign to rescue OUR village Pub – another Pop-Up success!

Our third Pop Up Pub evening held on Friday 18th November 2016 was another successful get-together with a throughput of 57 people during opening hours.

A queue was forming and getting anxious as the doors opened at 6.30. Anxiety peaked when the early doors crowd  found that the “Landlord” had forgotten the tapometer for knocking in the beer tap. The problem  solved quickly, as you would expect from a former Boy Scout,  with the judicious application of force from parts of his Citroen van spare wheel kit. Pints flowed almost until closing time when the Prescott Ale Hillclimb bitter ran out. Prescott Brewery have been very supportive of our efforts to keep the Fox and Hounds spirit alive and we are grateful to them for that and providing a great pint.

It was good to see so many regular villagers once more and to welcome several new faces including Jim Sargeant , a local CAMRA representative who was complimentary about the beer.

Martin Constable and Di Watson did a good job in the kitchen keeping everyone supplied with “English Tapas” style food – thank you both. Dick Goodman with the “assistance” of Geoff Shuttleworth tended to the bar, both being pretty good on the mental arithmetic. No need for electronic tills here. The wine list was extended to include Prosecco and visitors can expect additions to the bar at the next pop up with possibly one of Birmingham’s best-loved real ales on tap. We might even have optics and offer one or two spirits.

Final figures indicate another surplus of around £250 was added to the “Save Wolford Pub” fund.

The next pop up will be at the Village Hall on Friday 2nd December. See you there and watch this space for more news.
